And the world spins madly on…

Man, has it been a weird couple of weeks. To start, there’s the catching up on all the normal things that have to be done outside of work, like finally finding a new doctor (awkward), tackling my taxes for the first time (yuck), and awaiting the inevitable demise of my 20-year-old junk bucket of a car (my daily commute is turning into a ticking time bomb). Then, there’s more than a few out-of-left-field moments at work that alternated between hilarious and dumbfounding, and all made me questioned whether my life had turned into a workplace sitcom. Sprinkle in a few uncharacteristic decisions on my end, both good and horribly bad, and I’ve been all sorts of kerfuffled lately. Stressing more, sleeping less, eating like a frat boy, etc. etc.

My solution? Just give me all the chocolate, and I’ll be fine.

With that, here’s a few bits and pieces of my life lately…

What I’m Currently…

Watching: The day I don’t answer this with some manner of “The West Wing” will most likely be the day I die. I’ve started making a habit of throwing it up on my iPad while I finish work from home at night, and as a result, have made it all the way back to mid-Season 5. What can I say, it’s good background TV and I may or may not strive to be the Hollywood equivalent of Donna Moss. In other, non-political-drama-obsessed news, I’ve finally caught all the way up with Parks and Rec (how have I been missing out on this?!), and am dabbling in Portlandia and Weeds (both magnificent!) This is, of course, outside of my regular shows, but nobody should be surprised by now if I were to answer this question “What are you watching? with “Uh, everything.”

Listening to: Lana Del Rey. And no, I have no idea why. I saw the SNL performance, it was incredibly awkward and strange, and my general response was along the lines of “Uh, what?” My sister actually texted me to ask if it was a Kristen Wiig sketch. But then, out of pure curiosity, I looked up the video for “Video Games” online, and I was a little mesmerised. Her new album came out today, and I threw it up on Spotify at work to check it out, and I kid you not, the next time I looked up, the album had repeated twice and I was more than confused as to why I couldn’t turn it off. It’s GOOD, in an odd way that I’m sure isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s got me completely hooked.

Looking forward to: SUPER BOWL SUNDAY! It’s been a fun few weeks of trash talking football in the office, and after a nail-biting, heart-pounding, incredibly lucky win two weeks ago, my Patriots have a rematch with the Giants on Sunday. And while there are a few things about my personality I tend to tone down in public, my intense love for Boston sports is not one of them. My friends and I are meeting up with a bunch of people at a rooftop party in Santa Monica, I’ve got my Brady jersey hung and ready to go, and once it’s all over, there’s a little show premiering that I’m particularly excited for. It’s going to be a killer weekend.

Obsessing over: These little stinkers (and not in a good way). Also, searching for nail designs on Pinterest, my new early morning habit of watching the Daily Show and Colbert Report before work while trying not to laugh too loud in my office, kicking my dad’s butt at Words with Friends, finding new decorating ideas on Pinterest, Pinterest in general, and soaking up as much sunshine as I possibly can. 80 degrees in January is a godsend.

Feeling: Admittedly, a little overwhelmed and increasingly aware of my own weaknesses in the face of all kinds of little challenges. But that’s progress, right? Because every once in a while, I still can’t help but feel as though the world is spinning exactly as it should.

Calling this home never stops being awesome.

i’m glad you’re doing well! and thanks for your comment on my bucket list post – i’d definitely be curious to hear what shows you can get studio audience tickets for! i know of a couple of websites that provide them, but i haven’t sprung on anything yet.
